I think there may be a market for this due to one 10 letter word in there. Starts with an "S".

Corporate synergy, anyone?

What would be the point of collecting three forgettable mini-series that have littered bargain bins for over a decade?

Hi Bob,
A few pages back, someone brought up the issue of whether this thread should be used mainly for questions to you, or should it include lengthy discussions as well. I was wondering how you felt about it.

As much as I love this thread, it has gotten lengthy, and I know none of us want to burn you out on it. Would you rather enter specific discussions on individual threads, or are you fine with volume of material you're dealing with here?

I guess you're right, just wishful thinking. I do hope they bring back Man of Steel. Hopefully with this mysterious Byrne project that Bob hinted at a few days ago.

Hi Bob,
I was wondering if you could let me know if they'res any plans for:
1) The Marshall Rogers/James Robinson LOTDK arc
2) Some of the Doug Moench/Paul Gulacy Batman stories. I think they're 3rd collaboration was called Outlaws. It was a 3 issue prestige format series. I skipped it to wait for a trade. They also did 2 issues of Batman, around issues 393-394.
3) Generations 2 by John Byrne. Again I skipped it waiting for the trade.
4) Also any info about the Neal Adams Batman Book. I know it's planned for 3 volumes. Any rough estimate on frequency or price?

Lastly I was sorry to hear about the shakeup at DC. The only possible good news that could arise from this is that Andy Helfer would do some more writing. I'm a big fan of his. For those who haven't read his work track down the Deadman mini-series he did with Jose Garcia Luis-Lopez and his Shadow run with Sienkiewiez and Baker.

Hi Bob,

Appreciate your efforts on the Archives!

Do you have any plans to attend WonderCon in San Francisco - lovely city, good weather, a bunch of crazy fan-boys. What more could you ask for? 8-)

Thanks,
Joe

Bob,

I was wondering if in THE OBSIDIAN AGE BOOK ONE you'll be including the profile pages of Faith, The Ancients, and possibly Firestorm from the JLA/JSA SECRET FILES? The ad copy for the book doesn't say specifically, but I think these would be a great addition for Book One.

I think it's a brilliant idea to include select profile pages from the SECRET FILES and WHO'S WHO in certain trades.

Thanks!

Here's an idea:

How about an Ambush Bug TPB? And I'm not talking about his mini-series, either. I'm talking about his appearances in DC Comics Presents and those Action Comics backups which led to the mini-series. Maybe something for April 2004?

I was very pleased to come across this thread and read the entire thing up to this point (had to divide it up into doable doses…) and even more pleased and thankful that we have the ear of Bob Greenberger. I’ll gladly take straight-out info on upcoming archives/trades or teases regarding them, whatever is sanctioned. It’s just great to have an open line of communication to someone who is involved with the planning of these books, which happen to be my main interest in the hobby these days.

So many things I could comment on or ask about, but I’ll begin with just one for Bob:

1.For the eventual JLA/AVENGERS collection (2 years off at the very least?), what are the chances of the original Perez pencils for the unused first version being included in their entirety as a bonus (with commentary if possible)? I hope DC, Graphitti, Marvel, or whoever ends up doing the collection seriously considers this. Seems like a natural if economically feasible.

Oh, and THANK YOU! For the Golden Age Spectre Archives coming next month. I would like to record my vote for a Silver Age Spectre Archives to follow it! It would be nice to include the Hourman back up from that first Spectre run, and Brave & the Bold Spectre issues as well.

Bob,

Sorry if this has already been brought up, but is there any chance we'll see a Silver-Age Teen Titans Archive anytime soon?

Thanks...

Bob, could you tell us what was on your list for 2004? It's not like you would be telling us what was on the schedule, just what might be as I'm sure things will be taken off and added to your list even after it's paired down.

Thanks!

Ah, so sayeth Polonius of Hamlet fame.

Seriously, though, i agree with you guys about being brief, but if i'm trying to present an argument which i truly feel i have a case for, ill present as many aguments and examples as i can to try to sway the other person's opinion, instead of simply saying something like "hey, i think scribbly archives would sell"

After all, in my time arguing my point, we've seen bob go from (paraphrasing), "no bat plans other than arcs", to "we may have been wrong, we're considering one" to "many good points, we've got three projects on the table to consider"

If someone didn't read the posts due to length, its a shame, as i presented a lot of good arguments, suggestions, things to think about, which at the vvery least would get you thinking.

If you didn't read them because you felt they were "unreadable", fine. I apologize, but i dont have too much time, and that day (lincoln's b-day) i had off, so i was just trying to get as much of my thoughts down while i had the time.

Anyway, as ive said before, i greatly appreciate bob's work. It's one (very nice) thing to come here and answer questions. Its even greater for someone to be able to come here and read posts vehemently arguing their position, and not ignoring them simply b/c of a different stance. Thanks a lot to bob.

Actually, goth, I didn't read your long posts primarily because they were full of intricate refernces to a strip that I don't read, and thus wouldn't have made sense to me in any case.
But if they had been talking about material that I was interested in, I think I'd have had a pretty hard time with them due primarily to the way you presented your material in huge, undivided slugs. And that's a shame, because you obviously know your material backwards and forwards and have cogent arguments to make about its presentation. I like the way you're posting now much better.

HI there,

Apologies if I've missed it in the last 40 odd pages of these threads, but I was wondering if there are any plans to continue the reprints of HITMAN? If's Bob has already answered this let me know.

I'm an Ennis fan who discovered this series too late - so I started getting the trades, not realising they had stopped.
Glad to hear there's more Starman due, but would love to know if HITMAN reprints will ever be completed.

Nick

Well, I guess I should chime in, as I've just discovered this board!

Just a quick list of reprints I'd like to see:

-Hitman (complete the series!)
-Kirby Demon
-Captain Marvel "Monster Society" serial
-Englehart/Rogers Detective (with covers this time!)
-Garth Enns' Demon run
-O'Neil/Adams Batman stories
-Vermillion (from the old Helix line)
-Joe Kubert Tarzan Archives!!!!

Thanks for listening...

Mark

Hiya Bob:
New to the board, but I really appreciate the fact that you reply and listen to the fans. In the last few years, I've become a devoted comic READER as opposed to COLLECTOR. As such, I am a huge fan of the Trade Paperback/Hardcover reprint formats.
So, I just wanna throw in my two cents:
1. Silver Age Spectre Archives- Showcase issues and short-lived eponymous title
2. Dark/Black Flash storylines
3. Emerald Twilight - I can't figure out why DC hasn't kept this in print (with the Guy Gardner issues included). When I worked in a comic store 5 years ago, these were BY FAR the most requested back issues.
4. JSA Archives - 1970s All Star, Adventure, and DC Special issues
5. JLA Incarnations TPB - I know most JL books are reprinted but I havent seen these solicited.
6. Kamandi - Honestly, I'd like to see this in black and white.

Thanks for your time.

Hitman is a topic that I feel deserves revisiting, any vibe towards re-examining that situation Bob?

I love the Ennis/McCrea Demon run and as unlikely as it is I'd go crazy for collections. In fact, during the Canberra bushfires my Garth Ennis comic box was the only one to be packed in the car in case of evacuation.

So there is a new Starman trade on the way, any clue to content and date?

Canberra? Isn't that the capital of Australia?

Yup, that's where I live. Extra points for knowing it's the capital, too.

For those who don't know, Canberra was beseiged by bushfires on Jan 18 2003. This wouldn't effect most Australian cities too badly, but Canberra is criss-crossed with beautiful bush corridors that break up the suburbs. As the smoke turned the daytime sky dark as night, 500 homes were destroyed. We were fine, thank God.

Hi Bob,
I have some more questions to ask you.

1) I'm taking a quote from the Newsarama site about the recent announcement regarding the new printing of Batman Archives volume 1 for the reduced price: "The special price for the new printing will only be for initial orders from retailers, while the rest of the volume’s print run (the overprint) will be priced at $49.95. The move, according to ICV2, is to drive high numbers of preorders for the August-shipping book."

I was wondering will there be a difference on the UPC direct sales bar code on the new printing's dustjacket for the initial ordered copies from retailers, where it will actually say the $19.95 US/$32.95 Canada cover price, or will the dustjacket still bear the usual $49.95 US/$82.00 Cdn price tag?

I remember when DC first offered the remaining previous printing copies of Batman Archives vol. 1 in Oct. 2001 at that $19.95 price, all that was done was slapping a sticker on the book's shrinkwrap bearing the reduced price. Will this be done like this for the new printing as well? Also, just what printing is this for Batman Archives vol. 1 (second or third printing, etc.)?

2) Will Frank Miller's Dark Knight Returns sequel, "Dark Knight Strikes Again", be coming to trade paperback this year?

3a) Will there be new cover art supplied for the upcoming new printing of "Zero Hour: Crisis in Time" trade paperback?

3b) Are there more Justice League International collections planned once the new printings of "JL: A New Beginning" and "JLI: The Secret Gospel of Maxwell Lord" are out, or will this be based on sales on how the re-issues sell?

Thanks!
Bill

I can answer that one. This is the second printing. The sale awhile back was clear out the stock of the first printing. That said, with the addition of a table of contents and a bio page, this might be better refered to as the second edition, rather than the second printing. For $20, I just might grab a copy and give my first copy to family youngsters.

I might be able to help on this one too. Bob says the soft covers are issued when the hard covers sell out. Since the HC is just a few months old, I doubt it's sold out yet, and therefore there's no need to worry about the SC edition yet. Maybe by summer?

Bob,

Any plans for a TPB version of the "Green Lantern: Legacy" HC? Seeing as how it looks like the monthly title is heading for the reestablishment of the GLC (and the reintroduction of Kilowog), it might be a good idea to have this critical bit of history available to a wider audience so that stuff makes more sense. (I bought the hardcover, in case you are wondering, and didn't regret it )

I've noticed that, on the GL boards, there seem to be more and more people saying stuff like, "Wasn't Oa destroyed?" or "Since when is Kilowog alive? Didn't he die in ET?".

Also, as somebody who hopes to one day complete his collection of GL, can you tell me if the second series will be archived up through at least the beginning of the GL/GA issues? I know you probably can't tell me that at this point, but it was worth a try, right?
